Brummeria at a glance

The suburbs Brummeria, Navors, Lydiana and Weavind Park are in close proximity to the Pretoria National Botanical Garden that was established in 1946 where the Head Office of SANBI (South African National Botanical Institute) is situated. On-site facilities include two restaurants, a visitor and environmental education centres and concert stage. The Gardens is a popular venue for park runs, arts and crafts markets and music festivals.

Boardering the CSIR, Pretoria's council for scientific and industrial research, Brummeria and Navors is literally just up the road. The CSIR boasts its own convention centre dedicated to conferences and functions as well as a Sports and Recreation club. Brummeria South is effectively a boomed area called Brunaly Park Estate with a large contingent of the British Embassy Staff village. Furthermore there are a balance of upmarket residential estates, townhouses and houses. Across the N4 Brummeria Renaissance Retirement Village, various townhouses and homes can be found.

In 1958, Lydiana was founded on the 20 ha farm Lydia originally belonging to Piet and Lydia Grobler, with 79 special residential estates, three general plots, three business stands and six others - a total of 91 stands. The planned police station yard has become a tennis court and is now a parking area for the Living Word Church.

Laerskool Die Krans and Kransjakkers Private School in Lydiana celebrated their 15th year already and is just going from strength to strength. St Paulus Pre-Primary & Primary School is an independent dual medium facility offering a well-established curriculum. One can expect to find a variety of Simplexes, Duplexes, Duets and Residential houses in this area.

Weavind Park was previously the homes of both the Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal (PACT) before they relocated to the State Theatre in Pretoria and the SABC. The SABC site is now occupied by the National Prosecuting Authority and Hawks. The Theatre Venue and Die Bos Winkel are now on the old PACT campus. Close proximity one will find the Council for Geosciences, Agriculture Research Council, Transnet, SAPS Forensic Science Laboratory and SAPS Logistics. The Burnett Memorial Chapel built in 1927 is now the home of the John Wesly College. Due to the presence of the NPA, the surrounding area in Weavind Park is constantly under security surveillance.

Flats, Simplexes, Duplexes, Duets and Residential houses are equally distributed and serviced by a small shopping centre. Medical doctors serve the surrounding areas.
